Objective

Looking for meaningful and interesting stuff. I recently (Nov. 24 2011) started a blog at http://www.koobehub.com/ Hope I can keep it up...

Introduction

I was a PhD student with Rubinetat the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of University of California, Davis. I have a minor in computer science.

I have graduated in May 2010

Resume

(Due to the resume must be concise myth, my website in fact provides more information :-) Especially my Misc page. ) It has all my non-work projects.

Interests

I have experience and interests in the following fields, keywords are in bold:

  • IaaS, cloud computing and data center virtualization used to be my myth hot words... Now I work on them
  • Multimedia transport in telecommunication networks for example UMTS and GPRS. Peer-to-peer networking in local wireless networks. Applications of technological advances, for example Network Coding, cooperation in communication;
  • Web applications, mobile applications design and development. I have always loved the way that the web and mobility has changed people's life, and wonder how it continues to make further impact.
  • Signal processing, cooperative communication in cellular networks and its corresponding detection techniques;
  • Efficient channel utilization of WLAN for multimedia transport.

Experience

  • Summer Intern, (May 2009-Aug. 2009) @ Applied Research and Technology Center @ Motorola.
  • Graduate Research Assistant, (July 2007-present) @ RubiNet @ ECE @ UC Davis.
  • Teaching Assistant & Graduate Research Assistant, (Sept. 2005-June 2007) @ Electrical Engineering @ SUNY Buffalo.
  • Graduate Research Assistant, (Sept. 2003-July 2005) @ PCN&CAD Center @ Computer Engineering @ BUPT.
  • Software Co-op, (Jan. 2004-June 2005) @ Beijing Guodu Inc., Beijing, China.

Non-work Related Projects, Software/System Development & Interests

I have hands-on experience in the following fields: (Project details can be found at Misc )

  • Web application design and development. Major projects are:
  1. Personal Information Management (PIM) system for mobile users to manage personal information in online servers. Various methods are available for users' easy access to the information: Synchronization Markup Language (SyncML), WAP, short message (SMS), Web, Desktop client etc. Major technologies involved: J2EE, Database design, Java, XML
  2. SyncML application server. The SyncML protocol is implemented to synchronize data between mobile devices and application servers located online. Major technologies involved: J2EE, Database design, Java, XML, Java design patterns
  3. Facebook application Millionaire. The application incorporates online gaming and advertisements. Major technologies involved: J2EE, Database design, MySQL, Java, XML, Facebook APIs, HTML, Javascript, JSP
  • WLAN related video streaming
  1. Dynamic channel selection for video streaming in WLAN. In short, access points (AP) dynamically decides the best channel for video streaming with STAs and switches to the best channel seamlessly. Major technologies involved: MadWifi driver development, Linux scripting, user space program, C, Java
  • Mobile applications
  1. Android application development. Download available here Major technologies involved: Android platform, Java, multithreading
